Welcome to Eien Nante, the official fanlisting for “Déjà Vu” from the Tokyo Babylon OVA. A fanlisting is a collective listing of all fans of a specific something, person, character, show, or whatever, and their websites and email addresses if they so wish to distribute those. Most people use it as a hub for link exchange and general website whoring, but others just like to place their names on the list. Whatever your reasons may be for being here, please join.

“Déjà Vu” is the closing theme for the second Tokyo Babylon OVA. It is performed by Matsuoka Hideaki, the same man responsible for “Strawberry Kiss Kiss”, the first OVA closing. I’ll be the first one to admit that neither the Tokyo Babylon OVA nor “Déjà Vu” are the most brilliant things ever written (really, the OVA just does not do the manga justice), but the song is good pseudo-ghetto-80’s fun for Tokyo Babylon fans. It’s fluff. It’s yaoi fluff. It’s fluff for yaoi fans. It’s fluff for the whole family. It is reminiscent of the lighter, hope-and-romance tone Tokyo Babylon took before the end of the manga and the almost one-hundred-eighty degree revolution into the tone of X.

Lyrics (translation by Kristin Olson at Sekai Seifuku.)

Kono me de kimi no me wo miru made wa
Kiseki nado shinjinakatta
Deja vu no you na deai no yakusoku ga
Boku wo hashiraseru
[Déjà vu, etc.]

    Until my eyes met yours
    I'd never believed in miracles
Like déjà vu, the promise of our meeting
    Makes me run

Ah, eien nante hoshiku wa nai kedo
Zutto sono me wo mitsumete itai
Unmei nante shinjinai
Kimi wo shinjitai no sa

Ah, I don't want eternity, but
I want to gaze forever into your eyes
I don't believe in things like fate
I just want to believe in you

Kimi ni wa fushigi na miryoku ga aru
Itsuka, dokoka de mita ki ga suru
Kimi no sugata ga kokoro wo urozuite
Boku wo toriko ni suru
[Déjà vu, etc.]

    You have a mysterious charisma
I feel like we've met before, somewhere, somewhen
    Your figure lures my heart
    And takes me captive

Ah, eien nante hitsuyou nai kedo
Omoide ni kimi wo tojikometakunai
Maboroshi nante aisenai
Kimi wo dakishimetai no sa

Ah, I don't need eternity, but
I don't want to shut you away in memories
    I can't love an illusion
I just want to hold you tight

Ah, eien nante sasagerarenai kedo
Zutto kono te wo hanashi wa shinai
Jyuujika nante tayorenai
Kimi wo mamoritai no sa

Ah, I can't commit to eternity, but
This hand is never going to let you go
I can't rely on things like crosses
I just want to protect you

  1. Dance every time you hear “Déjà Vu”.
  2. Provide your name or a pseudonym and your country, at the very least. And provide a real country; Tokyo-3 and Zaibach are not real countries. These are Thefanlisting.org rules.
  3. If you provide your website, you must paste a code in some easily-accessible location. If you do not link back immediately, or if I cannot find your code because it is in some obscure or illogical location (such as a random page of a fanfic, whatever), I will add you to the listing without linking back.
  4. If you request, I will not display your email address, but you must still provide a functional one to be added to the fanlisting.
